John Evan
March 28, 1948. Born John Evans, this performer joined Jethro Tull as their keyboardist in 1970 after previously playing with the John Evan Band. His whimsical stage presence and mastery of the piano, organ, and synthesizers became a hallmark of the group’s progressive era. He contributed intricate arrangements to defining albums such as Aqualung and Thick as a Brick.
He remained a constant member of the ensemble from 1970 to 1980, often appearing on stage in a distinctive white suit. During his tenure, he also provided occasional backing vocals and played the accordion on various folk-influenced tracks.
