March 27

 Tony Banks

March 27, 1950. Anthony George Banks was a founding member and keyboardist for Genesis, maintaining his role within the group from 1967 to 2022. During the seventies, his innovative use of the Hammond organ, Mellotron, and various synthesizers like the ARP Pro Soloist defined the band's symphonic and progressive identity. He transitioned the ensemble through the departure of their original frontman, contributing complex arrangements to landmark albums such as Selling England by the Pound and A Trick of the Tail.

While primarily known for his intricate keyboard work, he also played 12-string acoustic guitar and provided backing vocals during the group's pastoral era. In 1979, he expanded his professional reach by releasing the solo effort A Curious Feeling.
