 Kim Simmonds


December 5, 1947 – December 13, 2022

Kim Simmonds founded Savoy Brown in 1965 and remained the band's driving force throughout its long recording career. Playing lead guitar while writing much of the group's material, he guided the band's changing lineups and helped establish Savoy Brown as one of the leading British blues rock acts with albums including Blue Matter, A Step Further, and Hellbound Train.

Simmonds continued recording and touring under the Savoy Brown name for more than five decades, releasing a steady stream of new albums while also pursuing solo projects. His expressive guitar work, blues-based songwriting, and dedication to live performance earned him lasting respect among blues and rock audiences worldwide.

Jim Messina


December 5, 1947

Jim Messina first gained recognition as the bass guitarist for Buffalo Springfield before switching to lead guitar when Bruce Palmer left the band. After Buffalo Springfield disbanded in 1968, he became a founding member of Poco, helping establish the group's country rock sound before leaving in 1970. He later teamed with Kenny Loggins, and what began as a production project grew into the successful duo Loggins and Messina.

Messina appeared on recordings including Buffalo Springfield Again, Pickin' Up the Pieces, and Full Sail. Beyond performing, he built a respected career as a producer and recording engineer while continuing to tour and present concerts celebrating his musical legacy.
