Benmont Tench

Benmont Tench became the founding keyboardist for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in 1976. He played piano and organ on their self-titled debut album that same year. He then tracked keyboard parts for their breakthrough record Damn the Torpedoes in 1979. He remained a constant member of the group until they stopped touring in 2017.
He also worked as a busy session player for other artists during his time with the Heartbreakers. He played piano on the 1976 debut album by The Alpha Band. He continued playing keyboards in studio sessions for prominent rock artists through 2019.
