Steve Fossen co-founded Heart in the early 1970s and became the band's original bassist during its rise to international success. His bass playing appeared on albums such as Dreamboat Annie, Little Queen, Magazine, Dog & Butterfly, Bebe le Strange, and Private Audition. He helped establish the group's powerful blend of hard rock and acoustic influences on songs including "Magic Man," "Crazy on You," "Barracuda," and "Straight On."

Fossen remained with Heart until 1982 before pursuing other musical projects. He later co-founded the tribute group Heart by Heart with former Heart drummer Michael Derosier, performing many of the songs that defined the band's classic era. His work on Heart's early recordings helped lay the foundation for one of the most successful rock bands to emerge from the 1970s, and he has continued sharing that music with audiences through live performances.
