 Hilton Valentine

May 21, 1943 – January 29, 2021

Hilton Stewart Paterson Valentine provided the distinctive guitar work for The Animals from 1963 to 1966 and during their reunion in 1975 to 1976. His arpeggiated style served as a foundational element of the group's early sound, which he revisited when the original lineup reconvened to record the album Before We Were So Rudely Interrupted.

Following his initial departure, he worked on a solo project titled All In Your Head in 1969. He then transitioned into various professional musical ventures throughout the seventies, occasionally performing in different group configurations. His rhythmic approach to the guitar remained a significant contribution to the evolving rock landscape during these collective recording sessions and live performances.

Stan Lynch

May 21, 1955

As the founding drummer for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Stan Lynch provided the quintessential backbeat for the group from 1976 to 1994. He joined the ensemble during their formative sessions in Los Angeles, contributing his steady rhythmic style to their self titled debut. His crisp percussion work became a defining element of the band's rise through the late seventies, particularly on the breakthrough album Damn the Torpedoes.

Beyond his role in the core lineup, he frequently contributed backing vocals that enhanced the group’s melodic harmonies. During this era, he participated in extensive global tours and numerous studio projects, solidifying the band's reputation within the rock landscape. His commitment to the Heartbreakers’ signature sound remained constant as the collective achieved significant commercial success before the turn of the decade.
