Paul Rodgers
December 17, 1949
Paul Rodgers first gained recognition as the lead singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist for Free, helping the band become one of the leading blues rock acts of the late 1960s and early 1970s. His powerful voice and expressive songwriting were central to albums including Fire and Water, Free at Last, and Heartbreaker.
After Free disbanded in 1973, Rodgers co-founded Bad Company with Mick Ralphs, Simon Kirke, and Boz Burrell. The group quickly became one of the decade's biggest rock bands through a string of successful albums and worldwide tours. He later formed the Firm with Jimmy Page, served as Queen's lead singer from 2004 to 2009, and has continued to perform and record on his own terms.
