 Cliff Williams

December 14, 1949

Cliff Williams joined AC/DC in 1977, replacing Mark Evans as the band's bass guitarist just before the recording of Powerage. His steady playing and strong backing vocals became an essential part of the band's sound on albums including Highway to Hell, Back in Black, and For Those About to Rock (We Salute You).

Before joining AC/DC, Williams played with the British groups Home and Bandit. After more than four decades with AC/DC, he stepped away from touring in 2016 before returning for the band's later live performances and recordings.
