 Ian Parkin

August 18, 1949 – July 1, 1995

In 1972, Ian Parkin became the original rhythm guitarist for Be-Bop Deluxe. He provided a steady harmonic foundation that allowed the lead guitar solos to soar. His reliable chord work formed the backbone of their 1974 debut album Axe Victim. He handled all the secondary guitar tracks on their early concert tours as the group built a dedicated following.

He moved on to new creative projects after the original lineup dissolved. He lent his guitar talents to various local bands and worked on independent recordings. He stayed active in the music scene by playing frequent live shows and collaborating with different artists from 1974 to 1995.

Dennis Elliott

August 18, 1950

The jazz rock ensemble If found a powerful rhythmic foundation when Dennis Elliott stepped behind the drum kit in 1969. He provided complex, shifting beats that helped shape their early studio records. He later lent his precise skills to the glam rock outfit Mott the Hoople, touring with them and anchoring their live performances through 1975.

His career reached a massive new level when he became a founding member of the hard rock group Foreigner in 1976. He supplied the heavy, driving rhythms that catapulted their self-titled 1977 debut album to massive global success. His steady beats powered huge radio hits like Feels Like the First Time and Cold as Ice. He stayed with the core lineup through a steady string of multi-platinum records, including Double Vision and Head Games, keeping the energy high on their massive arena tours. He continued to drive the band through their commercial peak before eventually wrapping up his time with the group in 1993.
