 Tommy Aldridge

August 15, 1950

Tommy Aldridge took over the drum throne for Black Oak Arkansas in 1972. He delivered a thunderous double bass style on their album If an Angel Came to See You, Would You Make Her Feel at Home? His intense energy powered the group through highly successful concert recordings and a steady string of studio releases like High on the Hog.

Seeking a fresh musical direction, he moved on to fuel the Pat Travers Band starting with the 1978 album Heat in the Street. His heavy driving beats propelled their live album Go for What You Know into a major radio success. He later lent his powerful skills to Gary Moore, Ozzy Osbourne and Whitesnake, maintaining a high-profile presence in hard rock across several decades.

Pete York

August 15, 1942

From 1963 to 1968 Pete York provided the steady beat for the Spencer Davis Group. He brought a sharp jazz flavor to the drums, elevating chart toppers like Gimme Some Lovin to massive global success. He temporarily parted ways with the unit to explore new creative ground, forming a heavy rock duo with keyboardist Eddie Hardin.

The duo, aptly named Hardin and York, gained a huge following across Europe. They delivered multiple studio collections and steady concert tours behind their 1969 debut album Tomorrow Today. He rejoined forces with Spencer Davis for a revamped band lineup from 1973 to 1974, anchoring two more studio records before shifting into a busy career as a high-profile session player.
