Rinus Gerritsen
August 9, 1946
The driving bass guitar lines and keyboards of Rinus Gerritsen powered Golden Earring into a massive international rock force. His musical journey started early when he met his young neighbor George Kooymans in their local neighborhood. The two friends bonded over music and formed a band together in 1961. That group eventually grew into Golden Earring.
His inventive bass lines fueled iconic tracks like the 1973 smash hit Radar Love, which became a staple on rock radio stations everywhere. He anchored the band through highly successful world tours and major albums from 1961 to 2021. Beyond playing, he worked as a producer, which means he guided other artists in the studio to help shape the sound of their records. His steady rhythm and creative arrangements made him a true cornerstone of the group's long career.
