 Mark Kendall

April 29, 1957. As the lead guitarist for Dante Fox, Mark Kendall spent the late seventies developing a heavy blues rock sound in the Southern California club circuit. He helped reform the group as Great White in 1981, maintaining his position as a core member through 2000 and again from 2006 to the present.

Kendall provided the signature riffs that defined their early independent recordings, performing on guitar and backing vocals while establishing the band's sonic identity.

Soft Machine recruited Hugh Hopper as their bassist and saxophonist in 1968, where his fuzzy instrumental textures defined the experimental Canterbury sound through 1973. He also utilized the mellophone and tape loops to contribute distinct technical compositions to several landmark jazz fusion albums.
