Micky Dolenz
March 8, 1945
Micky Dolenz continued recording with the Monkees into 1969 as they transitioned from their massive television success into a focused studio group. He provided lead vocals and played drums on their late sixties albums before the original lineup dissolved. He and Davy Jones released the final album of their initial run in 1970 as a duo.
In 1971, Micky Dolenz began releasing solo singles and spent the early part of the decade working on various studio projects. He teamed up with his former bandmate Davy Jones and the songwriting team of Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart in 1975. This combination formed a new performance group that toured and released a studio album together in 1976. He traveled to London in 1977 to star in a stage production and spent the next several years working in Great Britain.
