Terry Kath

January 31, 1946 -- January 23, 1978 - Terry Kath spent the decade as a founding member and lead guitarist for Chicago, contributing his innovative style to a string of multi platinum albums. He plays the guitar, bass guitar, and drums. His technical proficiency and soulful vocals were central to the group’s sound on hits like 25 or 6 to 4 and Make Me Smile. He also plays the banjo. Throughout the seventies, he participated in extensive world tours and experimental recording sessions that helped the band achieve massive global success until his professional career concluded in 1978.

John Wetton

June 12, 1949 -- January 31, 2017 - John Wetton began the decade performing with Mogul Thrash and Family before joining King Crimson in 1972. He plays the bass guitar, guitar, and piano. His powerful vocals and technical bass lines were central to the albums Larks Tongues in Aspic and Red. He also plays the violin. After King Crimson disbanded, he spent time with Uriah Heep and worked as a session musician before co founding the supergroup UK in 1977. He remained active with various high profile projects and released a solo album as the decade closed in 1980.
