 Pete Willis

February 16, 1960. Pete Willis was the rhythm guitarist for the Sheffield group Atomic Mass in 1977. After vocalist Joe Elliott joined the lineup in November 1977, the band changed its name to Def Leppard. Willis continued as the rhythm guitarist for Def Leppard from 1977 to 1982.

He played on the 1979 debut EP and the first full-length studio record, On Through the Night, released in 1980. His aggressive playing and songwriting contributions were instrumental in establishing the band as a major force within the new wave of British heavy metal during the late seventies.
