Phil Taylor

September 21, 1954 – November 12, 2015

Phil Taylor stepped in to replace the original drums player for Motorhead in 1975 during the recording sessions for their debut album. He quickly became a core part of the definitive lineup alongside Lemmy Kilmister and guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke. His fast playing style helped shape the sound of the group on their self-titled album in 1977. He went on to drive the rhythm on a string of highly influential releases, including Overkill and Bomber in 1979.

He wrapped up a massive streak of success with the landmark Ace of Spades album in 1980. He stayed with the group until 1984, later returning for a second run that lasted from 1987 to 1992.
