Peter Cetera
September 13, 1944
In 1967, Peter Cetera joined the rock band Chicago Transit Authority, which later shortened its name to Chicago. He played bass guitar and shared lead vocal duties with other members of the group. His high-register singing voice became a defining feature of their radio hits and ballads. He recorded and co-wrote songs for their self-titled debut album in 1969 and remained an official member of the band until 1985.
His songwriting and vocals helped guide the group through a steady stream of annual albums, including Chicago II in 1970 and Chicago X in 1976. Aside from his work with the group, he released a self-titled solo album in 1981.
