 Mathias Jabs


October 25, 1955

Mathias Jabs joined Scorpions in 1978, replacing Uli Jon Roth as the band's lead guitarist. He first appeared on the album Lovedrive in 1979 and became part of the lineup that helped transform Scorpions into one of the most successful hard rock bands of the 1980s. His guitar work was featured on albums such as Animal Magnetism, Blackout, Love at First Sting, Savage Amusement, and Crazy World.

Jabs developed a melodic lead style that complemented Rudolf Schenker's rhythm playing and contributed to songs including "No One Like You," "Rock You Like a Hurricane," "Still Loving You," and "Wind of Change." He has remained with Scorpions through lineup changes, extensive touring, and new recordings while occasionally pursuing side projects. He remains active in music in 2026.

Glen Tipton


October 25, 1947

Glen Tipton joined Judas Priest in 1974 and became one of the band's lead guitarists and principal songwriters alongside K. K. Downing. He first appeared on the 1976 album Sad Wings of Destiny and helped shape albums such as Sin After Sin, Stained Class, Killing Machine, British Steel, Screaming for Vengeance, and Defenders of the Faith. His melodic lead playing and songwriting contributed to songs including "Breaking the Law," "Living After Midnight," "Electric Eye," and "You've Got Another Thing Comin'."

Tipton remained with Judas Priest throughout its rise to international success and released the solo albums Baptizm of Fire and Edge of the World. In 2018, he stepped back from regular touring after revealing that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, although he has occasionally joined the band on stage for selected performances. He remains involved with Judas Priest and related projects in 2026.

Jon Anderson


October 25, 1944

Jon Anderson co-founded Yes in 1968 and became the band's lead singer and principal lyricist during its most influential years. His distinctive voice and imaginative lyrics helped shape albums such as The Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge, Tales from Topographic Oceans, Relayer, Going for the One, and Tormato. He co-wrote many of the band's best-known songs, including "Roundabout," "I've Seen All Good People," "And You and I," and "Wonderous Stories."

Alongside his work with Yes, Anderson launched a solo career in 1976 with Olias of Sunhillow, an album on which he sang and played a wide range of instruments. He later collaborated with Vangelis on a series of recordings beginning in 1980 and participated in various Yes reunions and related projects throughout his career.

Anderson has continued recording, touring, and releasing solo music while leading projects such as the Band Geeks. He remains active in music in 2026.
