Greg Ridley
October 23, 1947 – November 19, 2003
Greg Ridley first gained recognition as the bassist and one of the lead singers for Spooky Tooth, joining the band in 1967 after its evolution from Art. He appeared on albums including It's All About, Spooky Two, Ceremony, and The Last Puff, helping shape the group's blend of hard rock, blues, and progressive influences.
In 1969, Ridley joined Humble Pie alongside Steve Marriott, Peter Frampton, and Jerry Shirley. His bass playing and vocals became an important part of albums such as As Safe as Yesterday Is, Town and Country, Rock On, Smokin', and Eat It. He remained with Humble Pie through its most successful years before leaving in 1975.
Ridley later pursued solo projects and participated in Humble Pie reunions during the 1980s and 1990s. His work with Spooky Tooth and Humble Pie established him as one of the notable bass players and vocalists to emerge from the British hard rock scene of the late 1960s and 1970s.
