October 21, 1957

Steve Lukather co-founded Toto in 1977 and became the band's lead guitarist, a lead vocalist, and one of its principal songwriters. He appeared on albums such as Toto, Hydra, Turn Back, Toto IV, Isolation, and Fahrenheit, helping shape the group's blend of rock, pop, jazz, and rhythm and blues influences. His guitar work was featured on songs including "Hold the Line," "Rosanna," "Africa," and "I'll Be Over You."

Alongside his work with Toto, Lukather became one of the most in-demand session guitarists of his generation, contributing to recordings by artists including Boz Scaggs, Michael Jackson, Don Henley, Lionel Richie, and Paul McCartney. He launched a solo career in 1989 and continued recording, touring, and leading various lineups of Toto following the band's reunions and hiatuses. He remains active in music in 2026.

Lee Loughnane


October 21, 1946

Lee Loughnane co-founded Chicago in 1967 and became the band's trumpet player, flugelhorn player, vocalist, and songwriter. He appeared on every studio album released by the group, helping shape its distinctive blend of rock, jazz, and brass arrangements. His playing was featured on albums such as Chicago Transit Authority, Chicago II, Chicago V, Chicago VII, and Chicago X during the band's most successful years.

Loughnane occasionally sang lead vocals and contributed songs, including "Call on Me," while remaining an important part of Chicago's horn section alongside James Pankow and Walter Parazaider. His trumpet work has been a constant element of the band's sound for more than five decades. He remains active in music in 2026.
