Andy Pyle

November 25, 1946

Andy Pyle began his professional career during the British blues boom of the 1960s, performing with the Herd before joining Savoy Brown in 1971. As a bassist, he appeared on albums such as Street Corner Talking, Hellbound Train, Lion's Share, and Jack the Toad, helping shape the band's blues-rock sound during one of its most successful periods.

After leaving Savoy Brown, Pyle joined Blodwyn Pig and later became a member of Wishbone Ash during the mid-1980s, returning for a second stint in the early 1990s. He also performed with Juicy Lucy and built an extensive career as a session musician and touring bassist, working with artists including Gary Moore, Mick Abrahams, Alvin Lee, Graham Bonnet, and Robert Plant.

Pyle has continued recording, performing selected concerts, and participating in blues and classic rock projects while remaining a respected figure among British bass players.
