November 18, 1949
Hermann Rarebell joined Scorpions in 1977 and became the band's drummer during its rise to international success. His powerful drumming appeared on albums such as Taken by Force, Lovedrive, Animal Magnetism, Blackout, Love at First Sting, Savage Amusement, and Crazy World. He also contributed lyrics to several of the band's best-known songs, including "Rock You Like a Hurricane," "Blackout," "Bad Boys Running Wild," and "Make It Real."
Rarebell remained with Scorpions until 1995 before pursuing a solo career and producing projects for other artists. He later recorded tribute albums celebrating classic rock songs and occasionally reunited with former bandmates for special appearances. His combination of hard-hitting drumming and songwriting made him an important contributor to Scorpions' classic era, and he has continued recording and performing in selected projects.
