Tom Fogerty
November 9, 1941 – September 6, 1990
Tom Fogerty co-founded Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1967 after performing with his younger brother John Fogerty in several earlier groups, including the Golliwogs. As the band's rhythm guitarist and vocalist, he appeared on albums such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bayou Country, Green River, Willy and the Poor Boys, Cosmo's Factory, Pendulum, and Mardi Gras. His steady rhythm playing helped support one of the most successful rock bands of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Fogerty left Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1971 following creative differences within the band and launched a solo career with albums including Tom Fogerty, Excalibur, Zephyr National, and Myopia. He also collaborated with former Creedence members Doug Clifford and Stu Cook on several projects during the 1970s and 1980s.
His work with Creedence Clearwater Revival helped establish the band's distinctive swamp rock sound, while his later solo recordings reflected his continuing commitment to roots-oriented rock music.
