Myles Goodwyn
June 23, 1948 – December 3, 2023
Emerging from the vibrant late-sixties club scene, Myles Goodwyn quickly established a reputation for steering the creative direction of April Wine as their primary leader, principal songwriter, and sole constant member from 1969 to 2023. He delivered a versatile blend of hard rock anthems and soft ballads, driving the group to international commercial success. He was the lead vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist who recorded all his musical parts in a single grouped setting within the studio.
The band achieved major multi-platinum breakthroughs when albums like The Whole World's Goin' Crazy and First Glance dominated the charts. He also guided the group through high-profile performances, including an appearance with the Rolling Stones at the El Mocambo club in 1977. Beyond his extensive work with the band, he stepped out to release a self-titled solo album in 1988. He continued writing, producing, and releasing solo blues records until his retirement from touring in 2023.
