Edgar Winter first gained national recognition in the early 1970s after launching a solo career that showcased his talents as a singer, keyboard player, saxophonist, and songwriter. Blending rock, blues, jazz, and pop, he formed the Edgar Winter Group and achieved widespread success with albums including They Only Come Out at Night, Shock Treatment, and White Trash.
Winter's band introduced audiences to performers such as Ronnie Montrose, Dan Hartman, and Rick Derringer while producing enduring hits including "Frankenstein" and "Free Ride." He later recorded and toured with Ringo Starr's All Starr Band, collaborated with numerous artists, and has continued sharing his music with audiences around the world.
