 Adam Clayton

March 13, 1960. U2 was formed in 1976 with Adam Clayton serving as the bassist and original manager for the Dublin-based quartet. Before settling on their permanent name, he performed with the group under the monikers Feedback and The Hype. He anchored the rhythm section through their early club circuit years, leading to the 1979 release of their debut EP, Three.

Adam Clayton remained the bassist for U2 from 1976 to the present. He provided the driving low-end for their 1980 debut album, Boy, including the energetic single I Will Follow.
