George Kooymans
March 11, 1948 – July 22, 2025. Golden Earring featured the distinctive talents of George Kooymans, who performed as the lead guitarist and vocalist from 1961 to 2021. His creative vision propelled the band toward international fame with the driving rhythms of the 1973 hit Radar Love.

Harvey Mandel
March 11, 1945. Harvey Mandel joined Canned Heat as the lead guitarist in 1969, appearing at the Woodstock Festival. He contributed his signature sustain and controlled feedback to several albums including Future Blues before pursuing a prolific solo path. Nicknamed The Snake, he released acclaimed records such as Baby Batter and The Snake throughout the early seventies.
John Mayall recruited Harvey Mandel to play lead guitar for the USA Union band in 1970. He later collaborated with the Rolling Stones, providing distinctive guitar work on their Black and Blue album.
