Rory Gallagher
March 2, 1948 – June 14, 1995. Serving as the fiery lead guitarist and vocalist for the power trio Taste, Rory Gallagher exploded onto the late sixties blues rock scene. Taste issued their debut studio album in 1969, touring extensively and gaining a massive following through electrifying live performances, including a legendary set at the Isle of Wight Festival.
When Taste dissolved in 1970, he launched his own eponymous group, fronting the Rory Gallagher band from 1970 to 1995. Throughout the seventies, he remained a relentless touring and studio talent, issuing seminal records like Deuce and Blueprint. Showcasing immense versatility, he occasionally incorporated the harmonica, mandolin, and alto saxophone into his heavy blues foundation. His absolute dedication to live performance firmly cemented his revered status.
